Fundraising Wrapped 2025

As the year ends for me here in the charity office and plans are afoot for 2026, I’ve reflected on the last 12 months, with pride and gratitude, for all the kindness, support, bravery and resilience that naturally come our way every year.

2025 has again been incredibly powerful and emotional. The families we have the privilege of meeting come to us at the most difficult times, yet their support is ongoing, and it means the world to us.

This year has been filled with kindness and community spirit, having brought so many inspiring moments. We must thank the local businesses and organisations that have chosen us as their charity of the year,  those who have hosted coffee mornings, the runners, the walkers and the crafters. A really brave lady who not only climbed Mount Everest but did burpees at each camp and the guys who paddled from Grimsby to Lowestoft. To the schools who invite us in to speak of the work at the hospice, those who organise bake sales or stand alongside us in Asda at Charity Bag packs, raising awareness and funds too. We are so thankful and truly astounded by the commitment and determination of you all.

Collage of fundraising activities: skydiving, kayaking, cycling, holding charity cheques and groups smiling.

April was particularly significant, as I too became a fundraiser. Standing alongside 7 others as we took to the skies and jumped 15,000 feet, embracing the charity skydive. Friendships have been built that will last a lifetime, memories to treasure, and loved ones honored by our bravery. A deep-seated memory for us all from 2025.

Long-standing friends and first-time supporters, each offering kindness in their own unique way. Thanks to those who step up with time, skills, and services at a moment’s notice, helping us create memories and making every day lived the best it can be for those we care for. Thank you.

These achievements reflect not just generosity but a deep-rooted belief across Boston and the surrounding villages that everyone deserves comfort, dignity, and peace at the most difficult times in life.

The impact of your support allows us to ensure the hospice continues to be a welcoming space for patients and families when they need it most.

Butterfly Release is one of the events we are so proud of, which grows year on year and is seen by so many as a wonderful way to remember those who are no longer with us. This year, we welcomed Dr Vivienne Tegg and Liz Hill from Coastal Community Choir and Connor, who read beautifully in memory of his Nanny Jean. Local businesses supported with donations and their time as we offered tea, cake, ice cream and strawberries on a beautiful afternoon in June.

Sitting alongside Butterfly Release is Light Up a Life. As we returned to the Centenary Methodist Church this year, we come together in preparation for Christmas, with carols, readings and our poignant wave of light. We also introduced new offerings, including a book of remembrance and a slideshow of our your most treasured family pictures. Again, supported by the fantastic coastal community choir, cherished friends of Butterfly, local people supporting the local hospice. We are truly blessed. We also received wonderful feedback, with Hospice Ambassador Sandi Adams sharing: “You could feel the emotion in everyone in the room.”

One of the greatest joys of working at The Butterfly Hospice Trust is seeing how deeply our community cares. Your friendship continues to inspire us.

As a team, we feel proud of the connections we’ve built and give thanks to every single person who stands beside us.

Each event, every donation, each act of kindness, whether big or small, has reminded us just how strong, generous and compassionate our community truly is.

There are plenty of ways to be part of what lies ahead in 2026 and beyond, should you wish to get involved:

  • Join an upcoming fundraising event.

  • Host your own community fundraiser.

  • Volunteer your time and skills.

  • Support us through your workplace.

  • Follow and share our posts to help spread the word.

However you choose to be involved, you are always welcome and always appreciated.

To everyone who has supported us so far in 2025 - Thank you.

Your love, your friendship, and your belief in The Butterfly Hospice Trust make everything we do possible.

I wish you all a warm and cosy Christmas as we look forward with optimism to 2026.
