A Comforting Space at the Butterfly Hospice Trust

The Butterfly Hospice Trust proudly announces the start of construction on a new overnight facility, the Butterfly Lodge, located on Rowan Way. This facility will be available free of charge to families of guests under the hospice's care. It provides a comforting space for families to rest, eat, and sleep while remaining close to their loved ones during challenging times.

Meeting a Critical Need

Following outreach efforts, it became clear that there was a strong need for this facility. The charity has been working hard to secure funding to bring the Butterfly Lodge to life. This initiative will expand the holistic support services offered by the charity, benefiting families who often struggle with logistics and finances when seeking nearby accommodation.

Public feedback underscores the importance of the facility. One community member shared, "It would be such a benefit for the hospice to have somewhere to go and relax/freshen up without leaving the site so that you can be there for your loved one if anything was to change suddenly." Another added, "The Butterfly Hospice is a priceless facility. I strongly believe having the option for overnight accommodation will make handling a very upsetting situation a bit easier, knowing they’re close by to their loved ones."

Features of the Butterfly Lodge

The new Butterfly Lodge will feature three private ensuite bedrooms. One room will be specially adapted for accessibility. The facility also includes a communal area to ensure all families’ needs are met. It provides immediate access to the hospice 24/7, on-site parking, and thoughtfully designed amenities for comfort and convenience.

Voices of Support

Heidi Freeman, the CEO of the Butterfly Hospice Trust, expressed her excitement about the project. She said, “This development has been a long time in the making, and it is truly exciting to see the building work now happening. We know that the new facilities will make a huge difference, not just to our guests' families but to the guests themselves. Knowing that loved ones can stay close by will be a source of immense comfort. We are so grateful to everyone who continues to support this project and for the ongoing support of our community."

Operations Manager Lee Pierce added, “It's really pleasing to see that we now have construction underway. The Butterfly Lodge will provide the opportunity for families to remain closer to their loved ones and have a place to recharge during difficult circumstances. It is a proud moment to lead a project that will benefit so many families.”

Commitment to Local Business

ST Portess & Son, a local family-owned construction business, is handling the construction. They have been building in Lincolnshire since 1913. This partnership aligns with the Trust’s Green Agenda and commitment to sustainability by remaining local to the community.
