Making Room for More Donations

Every donation you make helps support the care we provide at The Butterfly Hospice Trust.
Behind every donated item that reaches one of our charity shops, is a dedicated team working quietly in the background to sort, prep and pack them for resale.
At our Furniture Warehouse & Donation Centre, 2 Hamilton Way, Boston, PE21 8TT, donations are sorted, organised and prepared so that they can be sold in our shops. Helping to raise much needed funds that directly support our hospice.
Now, we are taking an important step forward by expanding this space and creating a brand-new donation sorting hub. This development will help us manage the growing number of generous donations we receive and ensure that every item given to us can make the greatest possible impact.
Why this expansion matters
The support of our community continues to grow and with it the number of donations we receive each day. While this generosity is wonderful to see, it also means we need the right space and resources to handle donations efficiently.
Our new donation sorting hub will give our team a much larger and more organised area to process incoming items.
This will allow us to:
Sort and organise donations more efficiently
Turn stock around quicker for our retail shops
Free up space in the main warehouse to display and sell more items
Improve the environment for our volunteers
However, while the new space will make a significant difference, it can only truly succeed with the support of volunteers.
The heart of the warehouse - our volunteers
Volunteers are at the centre of everything we do at The Butterfly Hospice Trust and our Furniture Warehouse & Donation Centre is no exception.
Every donated item donated pass through their hands and without volunteers none of our donations would reach our shops.
By volunteering at the warehouse, you play a direct role in keeping our stores stocked, funds being generated and most importantly supporting the care provided here at the Hospice.
Our volunteers help with tasks such as:
Sorting and organising donated goods
Preparing furniture and large items for display or delivery
Helping keep the warehouse safe, tidy and well organised
Supporting the warehouse team with day-to-day operations
Each task may seem simple on its own, but together they create a system that helps keep everything else on track!
Volunteering at the warehouse is not just about practical tasks. It is also about being part of a welcoming team and a shared purpose.
People volunteer with us for many different reasons. Some are looking to give something back to their community. Others want to meet new people, learn new skills or gain experience that supports future employment.
Whatever the reason, volunteers are always supported by our warehouse team and experienced volunteers. Training is provided and no previous experience is required.
Our warehouse operates Monday to Saturday, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, with flexible volunteering opportunities available. This means people can contribute their time in a way that fits around their existing commitments.
Who can volunteer?
We welcome anyone who would like to get involved.
Volunteering at the warehouse may particularly appeal to people who:
Want to give back to a local charity
Enjoy being active and working as part of a team
Would like to gain experience in warehousing, logistics or retail
Are looking to develop new skills or build confidence for employment
Simply have some spare time and would like to make a difference
What matters most is that you bring a positive attitude, reliability and a willingness to work alongside others.
